The ruins of Lowther Castle and its gardens beyond have become one of the Lake District’s most popular visitor attractions. The eerie pink skeleton of the castle dominates the landscape around and is a much-loved landmark for the local North Lakes community. History, architecture, horticulture and great style are hallmarks of Lowther and we are proud to offer our visitors – including the four-legged variety – the very best standard of welcome.

A large restoration project such as Lowther Castle is always on the move. There is a constant rolling maintenance programme on the ruins themselves and on the gardens. New projects are always in hand – this is not a business that stands still. In that spirit, we are proud to have built a team of employees who are adaptable as they are friendly, enthusiastic as they are organised. We want every visitor who walks through our gates to feel they are being looked after. Lowther Castle is a very special place – the estate has belonged to the same family for over 800 years – and we like to think that our staff and their approach to their work reflect this. This is a family company.
