Cumbria Connect is a collaboration between the RSPB, United Utilities, Lowther Estates and Natural England.
Funded by the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme, the initiative is working to restore Nature across a vast 42,000 hectares of eastern Cumbria, encompassing the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.
Penrith-Kendal Arc
There are four Landscape Recovery Projects in the Lake District – the Penrith-Kendal Arc is the latest, and the largest such scheme in the country.
14,500 hectares (6% of Lake District National Park)
35 Participating Landowners & Farmers
Using a blend of public and private finance, this project will require the above participants to work together to deliver positive outcomes for Farming, Wildlife, Access, Community & Economy. Over the first two years, a collaborative plan will be developed. This will lead to a 20-year delivery phase.
