Accessibility

Visitors of all abilities are welcome at Lowther. Some terrain however is not suitable for wheelchairs. Do ask at Admissions if you would like advice. If you would like to drop less mobile passengers off close to the castle, please call 01931 712192 and we will come out to assist.

**Please note that we give free entry to carers. Do bring proof when you come to admissions and please don’t be offended if we ask to see it. Thank you.

Café & Loos

  • The main café (table service) and takeaway, both in the courtyard, open at 10.00am.
  • into the woods (the outdoor café close to the lost castle) is open at weekends during school holidays from mid-morning.
  • There are loos in the courtyard and by the lost castle adventure playground.

Dogs

Well behaved dogs are welcome provided they are kept on their leads at all times. Dogs are not allowed on the lost castle adventure playground.

Parking

Parking at Lowther Castle is currently free. At Low Sawmill, there is a modest charge of £5.00 per day. This charge does not apply to (adult) annual passholders who can park there for free.

Scooters & Bikes

Please note that scooters & bikes are not allowed in the gardens. There are bike racks in the Courtyard. If you can remember to leave scooters in the car, that is probably best. Thank you.

Smoking

Please note that we are a non-smoking, non-vaping venue. Thank you.
